Background<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Carleton College is located in Northfield, Minnesota. Northfield’s slogan, “Cows, Colleges, and Contentment,” comes from the city’s agricultural history and as a college town with two liberal arts institutions, Carleton and St. Olaf College. Cows are especially prominent in the downtown area, right outside of Carleton’s campus, such as the British-style pub called the “Contented Cow.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On campus, students dress up in cow costumes to greet the incoming students during New Student Week and the prize for the winning NOlympics<\/a> team is a stuffed cow. The stuffed cow might be a more elusive mascot than Schiller as it only appears during New Student Week and students focus their scavenging abilities towards finding Schiller instead of the cow after new student week. Since we weren’t able to find the stuffed cow, we modeled a squishy cow stress reliver toy from the Office of Health Promotion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
